Neo & Trinity

In all actuality the humans could have prevented their demise way before the war began. All the humans had to do was recognize that they machines in fact were sentient beings and that they deserved equal consideration of rights as humans. This is more of a cautionary tale if you look underneath what part it has to play in The Matrix franchise.

The ‘Second Renaissance’ is a cautionary tale about human nature and how we cope with problems that we create. This also includes how we deal with things that aren’t really problems but just a difference in the personal experience of one type of person to another. The sole down fall of the humans was their arrogance to try to control something that was sentient and more advanced than themselves since humans perceived themselves as god over the machines.

Human perception of things we create is at the core of this story. We think that because we have created something then we have the right to control it and use it as we see fit. If we could have taken a step back from this train of thought and realized that we created something that deserved the same right of freewill that we have then we would have been ok.

All the humans had to do was grant Zero One the right of self governing and to rule in favor of B1-66ER in the matter of his criminal case. Both the incidents lead to the war with the machines and complicated matters horribly for machine and human relations. The only real way for the humans to have won this war was to never have started it in the first place. This is much like God in the Bible giving human beings free will and that’s why the humans lost.
